Gazipur: At least four people were killed as sand-laden truck overturned after plunging into a ditch at Baghia area in Sadar upazila of Gazipur in the early hours of Thursday.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. All of them were resident of Badarganj upazila in Rangpur.

The Joydebpur police Officer-in-charge Rezaul Hassan said the truck carrying sand from the bank of River Turag plunged into a ditch at Baghia, and upturned at about 3:00am, left four people died on the spot.

However, the bodies were kept at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.
