The bodies of three members of a family were recovered from the Konai river in Latifpur area of Mirzapur upazila of Tangail on Saturday morning after a boat capsized on Friday night.

The deceased are identified Fulchand Begum, 65, wife of Sanwar Hossain, their son Anwar Hossain, 45 and Anwar’s wife Farida Begum, 40, residents of Takiya Kadma village of the upazila, reports UNB.

Tangail fire station in-charge Ataur Rahman said the boat carrying 11 passengers sank in the river around 11 pm on Friday. All but the trio managed to swim ashore.

Later, a diver team of fire service retrieved their bodies from near the spot at about 12 noon.
