Dhaka: Bangladesh National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) on Tuesday suspended one of its staff members in connection with the errors in the school textbooks.

The action was taken against artist-cum-designer Suzaul Abedin following the preliminary report of a probe committee formed earlier by the board to investigate the matter, said an Education Ministry release.

Earlier on Monday, the ministry made two officials -- NCTB chief editor Pritish Kumar Sarkar and its senior expert Lana Humaira Khan -- officers on special duty (OSD) over the errors.

Meanwhile, the ministry formed a three-member probe committee, headed by its additional secretary Ruhi Rahman, to look into the flaws. The committee was asked to submit its full report within seven working days.

The government distributed nearly 362,182,285 textbooks among about 4.25 crore students between pre-primary and secondary levels for the 2017 academic session across the country.

However, numerous spelling and printing mistakes were detected in the textbooks.
