Dhaka: After the Liberation of Bangladesh in 1971, he came to Dhaka with his father. Now he lives at 60 feet road area of West Agargaon in the city. He has amassed many happy and sorrowful memories in his life experiences after arriving in the city.
After his maturity, he participates in every meetings and rallies organised by Awami League. As a part of his love and affection to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Awami League, he also joined the party’s rally at Suhrawardy Udyan marking Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day on Tuesday.
The Bangabandhu devotee is none other than Jahangir from Rajbari district.
He made a colorful cannon with his own money and brought it to the AL rally on a van. There was a smiling photograph of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina where Bangabandhu hugged his daughter Sheikh Hasina in his chest. The cannon was embellished with the color of our national flag and there was a thing seems like a radio.
NTV Online correspondent Muhammad Akbar talked to the Bangabandhu and Awami League fan.
Jahangir said, ‘I was a child when the Liberation War started. I could not join the great war against Pakistan. But I experienced the brutality of the war. So, I feel proud of displaying the horrible scenario of the war.’
According to his statement, he was suffered bullet-wounded while attending the protest against HM Ershad, led by Awami League leader Abdur Razzaq. After Razzaq’s demise, none wanted to know about his sacrifice. But he has neither anger nor huff as he does not do anything for return.
Jahangir never got any opportunity to meet Bangabandhu. But he thinks it’s his great achievement of his life as he attended the funeral prayer of Bangabandhu’s follower Abdur Razzaq. Moreover, he always considers himself as a fortunate person being attended in any mass rally organised by Awami League.
Jahangir said, ‘Most of the people call me crazy after watching all of my passionate works for Bangabandhu and Awami League. But, I do not bother what people think about me. I want to pass the rest of my life being a crazy and devoted lover of Bangabandhu and Awami League.’
Jahangir also delivered some words to new generation’s political activists saying, ‘After the Liberation War, all political parties’ dedicated leaders and activists have not been evaluated equally. But we have to carry on our duties properly as politics is for the people and there is none out of politics. Our fate doesn’t change without good politics and political leader. I roam here and there like crazy person, this is also a political thought.’
