Bagerhat: A coal‐laden cargo vessel capsized near Fairway Buoy in Mongla in the Bay of Bengal on Friday.

Abdur Rahman Biswas, officer‐in‐charge (investigation) of Mongla Police Station, said the cargo vessel named MV Icegati sank in the bay near Hiron point while heading towards Noapara, Jessore after loading 100 tons of coal from the mother vessel in Mongla at about 9:15am.

Fourteen crew of the vessel were rescued by the vessels passing through the area after the incident.
