Sylhet: A case has been filed against four people, including Bahar Uddin, for attacking college girl Elina Akhter Jhuma in Jakiganj upazila on Sunday.

Victim’s mother Karima Begum filed the case against Bahar, son of Abdul Gafur, a resident of Rasulpur village, and three unidentified people with Jakiganj Police Station on Monday night, said sub-inspector Syed Imroz on Tuesday.

Jhuma, daughter of Muslim Ali of the same village and a 2nd year honours student of Beanibazar College, came under attack allegedly by Bahar for turning down his proposal for having an affair while she along with her mother was going to Kaliganj Bazar on Sunday noon.

She was undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.

Police could not arrest Bahar as he went into hiding after the incident but police detained Bahar’s brother Nasir Uddin, 26, for interrogation.
