Woman gang-raped in microbus
An indigenous woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a microbus on Wednesday night in Dhaka city, according to police officials.
The incident took place on capital’s Kuril-Uttara road where the Garo woman, who was reportedly in her early twenties, was waiting for transport after returning from her office at Jamuna Future Park.
While waiting at Kuril bus stand at about 9:30pm, a group of five miscreants came on the spot in a grey microbus, forced her inside the vehicle, and raped her by turn while the vehicle roamed different roads in the area, claimed the victim in her statement while filing a rape case with Bhatara police.
Later they dropped the victim near Uttara’s Jashimuddin road. She claimed that the five alleged rapists were aged around 23 to 28 years old.
Bhatara police officer-in-charge (investigation) Sazzad Hossain, who is in charge of the case, confirmed the incident saying the woman would be sent for medical checkup tomorrow.
None has been arrested so far, but police have launched an investigation in this regard, said OC Sazzad.
