Railway employee dies while saving woman, her son

Dhaka: A Bangladesh Railway employee was crushed to death by a train while saving a woman and her child from an eminent accident at Kuril Biswa road level crossing in Dhaka on Friday.
The deceased was Badal Miah, 58, a mechanic of the engineering department of Bangladesh Railway.
Sub-inspector Ali Akbar, in-charge of Airport Railway Police outpost, said Badal was engaged in the maintenance work of the rail tracks near Kuril Biswa road level crossing.
He saw a woman along with her child trying to cross the level crossing around 1pm oblivious of an approaching train.
Instantly, Badal pushed the duo off the tracks but failed to remove himself, the SI said quoting witnesses. He died on the spot.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
