Footballer hacked dead

Narsingdi: A footballer was hacked to death allegedly by extortionists at Char Nagardi village in Palash, Narsingdi on Monday night.
The deceased footballer was Nadiruzzaman Nadir, 30, a footballer of Arambagh Club in the capital and son of Quamruzzaman of the village.
Nadir came to his village home from Dhaka on Sunday.
Police and locals said terrorists had long been been demanding toll from Nadir’s father and threatened to kill the footballer.
Miscreants chopped Nadir with sharp weapons indiscriminately when he was sitting at their rice mill at Char Nagardi Bazar at about 7:30pm, leaving him injured critically.
He died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at about 8:30pm.
Police visited the spot and arrested an alleged extortionist named Saiful, 25, from his house.
