The minister said the present name of the Dhaka Zoo is Bangladesh National Zoo, which recovered land and proposed to construct a boundary wall to establish its control.
Besides, the government has undertaken a project ‘Modernisation of Dhaka and Rangpur Zoo Project’ to make them of global standard by improving infrastructures and adding more facilities to the greater benefit of the inmates as well as the visitors, he said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Architecture of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) conducted a digital survey on the prevailing condition of the two government zoos in the capital city and the northern divisional city, Haque said.
He told the House that the two zoos would be modernised with global facilities if the modernization project is approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
