Rangamati: Three people were killed as a hillock collapsed on a house in College Gate area of Rangamati town on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were Shamsul Alam, owner of the house, and construction workers Kalu Malakar and Mohammad Hanif.

Golam Mostafa, assistant director of Rangamati Fire Service, said a chunk of hillock fell on Shamsul’s under-construction house at about 4:15pm, leaving them missing.

With the help of locals, firefighters and police rescued them from under the soil.

Later, they were taken to Rangamati Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
