Dhaka: Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Benoît-Pierre Laramée met Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday and discussed various issues relating to bilateral interest and Bangladesh politics.

The nearly two-hour long meeting began at about 4:20pm at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, its standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, special secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon and Chairperson’s adviser Reaz Rahman were present at the meeting.

There was no briefing from the either side.

Wishing anonymity, a BNP leader who was present at the meeting said they discussed various issues relating to mutual interest of the two countries, Bangladesh’s latest political situation, next general election, and BNP chairperson’s proposal of election-time supportive government which she will place before the nation very soon.
