Magura: Two people were killed a truck collided head-on with a pick-up vat in the Belnagar area of Sadar upazila in Magua in the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased are pickup van driver and the truck driver’s assistant, Abdul Hamid, in his thirties, a resident of the village of Sattyapur at Fatulla in Narayangaj. Identity of the pickup van driver could not be known.

The Ramnagar Highway Police post assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Masud Rana said a truck and a pickup van collided head in the Belnagar area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway at about 5:30am and left the pickyup driver dead on the spot.

Abdul Hamid was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital in critically injured condition, where he died undergoing treatment.

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The ASI said the accident occurred due to dense fog on the road.

However, the truck driver fled from the spot leaving the vehicle behind.
