Mymensing: At least ten people were killed and two others injured as a bus plunged into a sinkhole in the Meherbari area of Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh in the early hours of Friday.

Among the deceased there are three women, three children and six men, all of them were the passengers of the truck. The bodies were taken to Bhaluka police station.

Identities of the injured could not be known. They were admitted to Bhaluka Health Complex.

The Bhaluka Fire service in-charge Rezaul Karim said the cement-laden truck was travelling to Sherpur from Dhaka and the accident occurred when it neared Meherbari area at about 3:45am.

Nine of the passengers died on the spot. Later fire fighters recovered the injured. One of the injured died on the way to hospital.
