Awami League will accept results in polls: Hanif
Dhaka: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub Alam Hanif on Thursday said they will accept any result in Comilla City Corporation election and Sunamganj by-polls.
"People cast their votes in Comilla city polls and Sunamganj by-election with much enthusiasm while the voting was held in a festive manner. It proves that Awami League believes in free and fair polls," he told a press conference at AL president's political office at Dhanmondi this afternoon.
Hanif said inclement weather slightly disrupted the voting in Sunamganj as turnout was 46 percent.
About the BNP's comments that EC failed to hold the election in a fair manner, the AL leader said BNP always opts to have negative thinking about polls and they are making such comments without any data or information.
AL joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organizing secretary Ahmad Hossain, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, cultural affairs secretary Asim Kumar Ukil and forest and environment affairs secretary Delwar Hossain, among others, were present at the press conference.
