Brahmanbaria: Two motorcyclists, including a union council chairman, were killed as a truck hit their bike at Bertala on the Dhaka‐Sylhet Highway in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria on Tuesday night.

The Sarail Hatihata Highway Police officer‐in‐charge Humayun Kabir, said the truck knocked down the motorcycle carrying Baki Billah Jewel, chairman of Bholakut union council of Nasirnagar upazila and Rony Bhuiyan, joint secretary of the district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, around 10:20pm, leaving them seriously injured.

They were taken to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Rony dead.

Jewel died on the way while being moved to Dhaka at night.
