2 Coast Guard members killed in Barguna crash

Barguna: Two members of Coast Guard were killed as their motorcycle collided head-on with a bus at Amtali upazila in Barguna on Friday afternoon.

The deceased are Fuad Hossain, in his twenties, and Abdus Sadeq, in his thirties. Another Coast Guard, Enamul Haque, member was critically injured during the accident. Three of the victims were appointed in Patuakhali Coast Guard from Bangladesh Navy.

Police and local people said three Coast Guard members were traveling to Patuakhali’s Kalapara upazila on a motorcycle. An Allahr Dan Paribahan bus collided head on with the motorcycle as they neared Amtali’s Bandra area on Dhaka-Kuakata Highway at about 2:30pm.

Later, local people recovered three of the motor cycle riders and took them to Kalapara Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared Fuad Hossain and Abdus Sadeq dead.

Enamul Haque was shifted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

The Amtali police Officer-in-charge Mohammad Shahidullah said police seized the bus and brought it to the police station. However, the bus driver fled from the spot immediately after the accident.
