Dinajpur boiler blast death toll rises to 8
Dinajpur: Four people, who suffered burn injuries in a boiler explosion at a rice mill in Sadar upazila on Wednesday last, died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday, raising the death toll from the incident to eight.
The victims were identified as Ranjit Bosak, manager of the rice mill, and three workers -- Shafiqul Islam, Udoy and Delwar.
Ranjit succumbed to his injuries at the plastic surgery and burn unit of the DMCH around 3am while Shafiqul and Udoy died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital in the morning and Delwar breathed his last at the same hospital at noon, sources at the hospitals said.
Eight other workers -- Munna, Shariful, Enamul, Saidul, Badal, Biren, Moksed, Anisur and --, who are undergoing treatment at the Rangpur Medical College Hospital with severe burn injuries, are stated to be critical.
Two workers, including a female one, were killed and 28 people suffered burn injuries as the boiler went off at 'Jamuna Auto Rice Mill' at Gopalganj village in Dinajpur Sadar upazila On Wednesday.
Of the injured, 14 were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where one of the injured succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.
Besides, another died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Friday.
