Comilla: Four people including three members of a family were killed as their CNG-run auto rickshaw was hit by a bus at Sadar south upazila of Comilla on Monday night.

The deceased are Abdur Razzak, a resident of Gundamara village of Laksham upazila in Comilla, his wife Jharna Begum, mother-in-law Joynaber Nesa, and the autorickshaw driver, Bacchu Mia.

Two people, Razzak’s seven-month-old child Razu, and relative Ishaq Mia, were injured during the accident. Razu was admitted to Laksham Health Complex, while Ishaq Mia was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

Police quoting local people said the family was traveling to Comilla Medical College Hospital for treatment of Razu.

The Sadar south police officer-in-charge Nazrul Islam said a Noakhali-bound Econo Paribahan from Dhaka hut the CNG-run auto rickshaw as it neared Borol area on the Comilla-Noakhali regional highway at about 9:00pm and left four people dead on the spot.

Later, police and fire fighters rescued the bodies and injured.
