Pirojpur: Two people were killed in a road accident adjacent to Mathbaria College in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur on Saturday morning.

A human hauler skidded off the road and hit a roadside tree after its driver lost his control over the steering at about 9:00am, leaving its passenger Salam Khan, 65, dead on the spot and three others injured, said police.

Later, another injured M Toufiq, 52, a resident of Kishoreganj district, succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital while two others were sent to Mathbaria Upazila Health Complex.

Matharbaria Police Station Officer-in-charge KM Tariqul Islam told news agency UNB that police seized the human hauler. However, the driver managed to flee.
