Jessore: Two female workers were killed and 30 were injured as a train hit as bus at Nawapara Taltala level crossing in Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore in Tuesday night.

Officer‐in‐charge of Abhaynagar Police Station Abdur Rahim said the bus was returning from Akij Jute Mill with its workers on board.

When the vehicle reached Nawapara Taltala level crossing a Jessore‐bound speeding train from Khulna hit the bus around 10:30pm, leaving two of the workers – Kadbanu, and Nur Jahan, dead on the spot and 30 others injured, said

The injured were admitted to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex.

However, the train communication of the capital with the northern region remained cut off following the accident, Rustam Ali added.
