A woman and a child were killed and 25 other bus passengers injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Cheler Ghat area of Trishal upazila of Mymensingh on Saturday morning.

The deceased could not be identified immediately, reports UNB.

Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station, said that the accident took place around 6:30am when the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Islam Paribahan’ skidded off the road and fell into the roadside ditch while overtaking another bus, leaving duo dead on the spot.

On information, firefighting teams and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.

The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
