Dhaka: A college girl was allegedly raped at Mirpur in capital on Saturday.

Police arrested three young people in connection with the incident, but the 'rapist' went into hiding.

Quoting the victim, a first year (honours) student of City College, police said one of her friends took her to a house at West Shewrapara in the morning.

There, one allegedly raped the girl while another took video footage of it, Mirpur Police assistant sub-inspector Zahid said, adding that the incident took place between 9:00am and 9:30am.

As the girl lodged a complaint to the police station in this regard in the afternoon, the law enforcers swung into actions arresting three young men from West Shewrapara, said sub-inspector Kamal Hossain who led the raid.

He said they could not arrest the alleged rapist and victim’s friend as they went into hiding after the incident.

One of the arrestee demanded money from the victim threatening to release the video footage on the internet while another, the house owner, helped the ‘rapist’ commit the crime, the SI added.

The victim was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
