Comilla: Two were killed in a head‐on collision between a truck and a pick‐up van on the Comilla‐Brahmanbaria Highway in Jaforganj area of Debidwar upazila in Comilla early on Thursday.

Shahjahan Khan, inspector of Mirpur Highway Police outpost of the upazila, said the accident took place around 2:00am in the area when a Comilla‐bound truck collided head‐on with Brahmanbaria‐bound pick‐up van, leaving Salauddin, in his twenties, the owner and driver of the pick‐up van and the driver’s assistant, Abul Mia, in his thirties, dead on the spot.

Salauddin, son of Abu Hanif hailed from Balibari village while Abul Mia, son of Moharram Ali from Ghosna village of the upazila.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Comilla Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, the police official added.

A case was filed in this connection.
