Two people, including officer-in-charge of Khatihata Highway Police Station in Brahmanbaria, were killed as a private car carrying them collided with a trolley on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi on Monday.

The deceased were identified as OC Humayun Kabir, 50, hailing from Burichang upazila of Comilla district, and private car driver Warish Miah, 45, reports UNB.

Bhairab Police Station OC AKM Mizanul Haque said the cement-mixer trolley collided with the private car from the opposite direction at Ghasirdia around 4:45pm, leaving Humayun dead on the spot and car driver Warish injured.

Locals rescued Warish and took him to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

In-charge of Itakhola highway police camp Sub-inspector Hafizur Rahman said they recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The accident took place when the OC was going to his Dhaka residence from his workplace on leave.

A case was filed with Bhairab Highway Police Station, he said.
