Two people were killed and four others injured as a bus plunged into a road side ditch at Matuail in Jatrabari on Friday morning.

Identities of the injured could not be known immediately. However, it has been known that the deceased are a man and a 10-year-old boy.

The injured are Shimanto Ghoshal, around 17 years, Masud, in his forties, Rajib, around 30 years, and Ripon, in his thirties. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The Jatrabari police inspector (operation) Rahat Khan said a Noakhali-bound Ekushey Paribahan bus plunged into a ditch infront of the Saddam Market at Matuail in Jatrabari, as it tried to overtake a CNG-run autorickshaw at about 6:15am.

Fire Service headquarters’ duty Officer Palash Chandra said being informed the fire fighters went to the spot and conducted rescue operation. The fire fighters also recovered two bodies and several injured people from the spot.
