Jessore: Two siblings were killed and their mother sustained critical injuries after a lightning struck them at Paschimkota Baganchra village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Saturday.

Moniruzzaman, officer‐in‐charge of Sharsha police station, said the lightning struck Sofura Khatun, in her twenties, and her brother Masudur Rahman, around 13 years old, daughter and son of Rezaul Islam of the village, while working at their yard, leaving them dead on the spot around 6:00pm.

Their Mother Khadiza Khatun, around 40 years old, sustained critical injuries in this incident.

Later, local people took injured Khadiza Khatun to Navaron Hospital, OC added.
