Noakhali: Three fisherman were killed as a trawler capsized in the River Meghna in Hatiya, Noakhali amid storm early Saturday.

The deceased were Jamal, son of Anajol, and Rakib, both residents of Shunyerchar, and Abdul Matin, son of Abdul Malek, a resident of Rehania village of the upazila.

Hatiya police station officer in-charge Nurul Huda said the trawler carrying 13 fishermen sank in the river during storm when they went to the river for catching fish in the dead of night.

However, local people rescued 10 fishermen.  

Later, locals recovered the three bodies from the river on Saturday morning.
