Gopalganj: Six people including five members of a family were killed when a bus rammed a microbus at Gerekhola in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Thursday morning.

Five of the deceased are Halim Akond, a Saudi expatriate, his wife Asma Khatun, their two sons — Sujon and Shihab and Halim’s brother-in-law Babul Hawladar, of Sharankhola upazila in Bagerhat.

The Kashiani police Officer-in-charge AKM Ali Nur told NTV Online a Dhaka-bound Greenline Paribahan from Gopalganj collied head-on with a microbus as it neared Gerakhola area on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at about 9:30am. The microbus was travelling to Bagerhat’s Morolganj from Dhaka.

However, the microbus fell into a ditch after collided with the bus and left three people dead on the spot. Police found a mobile phone in one of the deceased’s pocket and came to know the victims are residents of Morolganj in Bagerhat.

The microbus devastated during the accident and bodies of the deceased were found scattered on the road.

The family met the tragic end of their lives while returning to home with Halim, who returned home from Saudi Arabia this morning.
