Munshiganj: A police constable was killed as a speeding vehicle hit him on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Anarpura area of Gojaria upazila of Munshiganj early on Friday.

The deceased police constable is Shahidul Haque, in his thirties, driver of a police wrecker.

Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, additional superintendent of Munshiganj Police, said that the police wrecker was taken in the area early in the morning to salvage a vehicle which was overturned on the highway following an accident.

The speeding vehicle ran over Shahidul while crossing the highway, leaving him dead on the spot.
