Gazipur: Another body of a garment worker was recovered from the debris of Multi-Fabs Ltd in Nayarapara area of Gazipur on Tuesday morning, raising the death toll from the incident to 10.

Firefighters pulled out the body around 9:30am, UNB’s Gazipur correspondent reports quoting Akhtaruzzaman, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The firefighters were still searching for victims under the debris till filing of the report around 11:00am.

At least eight people were killed and around 50 injured as a boiler exploded at the factory on Monday evening.

The injured were admitted to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where one of the injured succumbed to his injuries at night raising the death toll from the incident to nine, sources at the DMCH said.

However, the deceased could not be identified yet.

Meanwhile, the authorities of Multi-Fabs Ltd, where the boiler exploded, closed the factory for an indefinite period, said workers of the factory.

Besides, the authorities of 10 garments factories of the area closed their factories for Tuesday following the incident.

The district administration has formed an eight-member investigation committee to probe the incident.
