5 killed in yet another Gazipur road accident

Gazipur: Yet another tragic road crash at Naojor area of Gazipur Sadar took five more lives early on Friday.
The road accident occurred when a Leguna, a utility vehicle used for public transport, collided with a covered -van on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway at about 8:00am and left five others injured.
The victims were passengers of the utility vehicle. Identity of the victims could not be known immediately.
The injured were taken to Gazipur Sadar Hospital and other local hospitals.
The Naojor Highway police said the Leguna smashed on the spot as the Konabari-bound head-on collided with the covered-van when it neared Naojar area and left three passengers dead on the spot. Two injured died after taking to the hospital.
The bodies were sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police recovered the damaged Leguna and took it to the police post. The covered-van driver managed to flee from the spot.
Earlier on Thursday afternoon, eight people were killed as a Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (Demu) train smashed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Haydarabad level-crossing in Gazipur.
