Brahmanbaria: Three people, including two of a family, drowned and five others went missing as a boat capsized in the River Chetora in Sarail, Brahmanbaria on Thursday morning.  

Two of the deceased were Fatema Begum and her daughter Shefali.  

Witnesses said the boat sank immediately after it left Dubajail ghat in the upazila around 8:30am due to strong current in the river caused by the influence of cyclone Komen.

Local people recovered three bodies from the river while five people remained untraced.

High officials of the district administration visited the spot and gave Tk 5000 to the families of the deceased for burial.
