Bangla Academy award 2014 announced

Dhaka: Bangla Academy has announced the names of the recipients of Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar-2014 ahead of the month-long Ekushey Book Fair scheduled to be started on 1 February, says a press release from the academy.
Bangla Academy director general Shamsuzzaman Khan announced the names of the winners at a press conference at the academy on Thursday.
Shihab Sarkar received the award for poetry, Zakir Talukdar in Kotha Sahitya (Literature), Shantanu Kaiser in essays , and Bhuiyan Iqbal for research.
For his works on Liberation War-based literature Mohammad Delwar also received the prize.
In other categories, Mainush Sultan got the award in travelogue while Khaleque Bin Zainuddin received the award in juvenile literature.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is will hand over the prizes to the winners on 1 February at the inaugural session of Ekushey Book Fair and International Literature Conference 2015.
Each recipient will receive a cheque for Tk 1 lakh, a crest and a certificate.
Awards were announced in seven categories out of a total of ten as three categories - translation works, drama and science, technology and environment- had no awardee.
A five-member jury headed by Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam made the selection. Other members of the jury were Editor Abul Hasnat of literary magazine, Kali-Kolom, Professor Syed Manjurul Islam, Poet Asad Chowdhury and Professor Hayat Mahmud.
