Khulna: A woman allegedly strangled her 11-month-old baby girl to death and hanged her body from a ceiling fan over a family feud in Khalishpur area of Khulna city on Tuesday.

Officer-in-charge of Khalishpur Police Station Anwar Hossain said the woman suffocated Sumaiya, the baby, to death, hanged her to the ceiling fan of the house at about 8:00am after locking the door when all the house inmates went out for work.

Getting no response from the woman, neighbours called police who broke open the door and found the baby hanging around 10:30 am.

They sent the body to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and arrested Sharmin.

The OC said the incident took place following a family feud but could not give further details of the quarrel.
