Khulna: A muazzin died from electrocution at a mosque at Sir Iqbal Road in the city on Friday.

The deceased is Shah Nur Alam, 27, a muazzin of Madani Mosque on Sir Iqbal road in the city and son of Mollah Waliullah of North Bedkashi village in Koyra upazila.

Locals said Nur Alam, also a Kamil student of Khulna Alia Madrasah, came in contact with a live wire while he was switching off the mike after performing the azan for Jumma at about 12.30pm, leaving him injured.

He was first taken to Khulna General Hospital and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
