Khulna: A woman and her minor daughter were found dead in their house at Mathbari of Dumuria upazila in Khulna on Monday.

The deceased is Reshma Begum, in her twenties, wife of Mahbubur Rahman, and her one and a half years old daughter Maria.

Being informed by locals, a police team recovered the bodies and sent those to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, Dumuria police officer-in-charge Mashiur Rahman said.

No injury marks were found on their bodies and Reshma’s husband Mahbubur went into hiding after the incident, he said.

Quoting local people, OC Mashiur Rahman said Mahbubur had been demanding dowry from Reshma’s family since their marriage and he might have strangled his wife and daughter to death failing to realise dowry.
