Benapole: A teenage girl reportedly committed suicide by cutting vein of hand at Sherali Madonpur village in Monirampur upazila of Jessore district on Tuesday early morning.

Monirampur police sub-inspector Akram Hossain said the girl cut off vein of her hand with blade on Monday night at about 11:00pm.

Later, family members rescued her from her room after hearing her scream and whisked her off to Monirampur Upazila Health Complex where she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday at about 5:00am, the SI added.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
