University to enrich study of Rabindranath Tagore
Parliament Building: A bill titled 'The Rabindra University Law, 2016' was placed in the Parliament aimed at preserving the memory of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore as well as pursuing study, practising and carrying out research on his works and creations.
Education Minister placed the Bill in the Parliament and it was sent to the respective scrutiny committee. The committee was asked to submit its report within 30 days.
The University will be located at Shahjadpur in Sirajganj.
According to the Bill, not only the language and literature of Kabiguru will be practiced at the university there would also be other disciplines of learning.
There will be other faculties like arts, music, dance, fine arts, sociology, agriculture, cooperatives, law, business administration, science and engineering technology side by side with creation, philosophy and world culture of Rabindranath.
Under the law, the legal framework of the university would be like other public universities.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 8 May 2015 laid the foundation stone of Rabindra University at Shahjadpur, Sirajganj, one of the places that is rich with the memories of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath.
