Dhaka: The branches of the banks in the customs houses in Chittagong, Mongla, Benapole, Pangaon and Kamalapur ICD, Dhaka will remain open on Friday and Saturday.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) in a circular issued earlier asked the commercial banks concerned to keep their branches open in the customs houses and customs facilities for the two days for facilitating import and export related activities, reports BSS.

The central bank also directed the banks to keep open their branches in commercial areas and around shopping malls and marketplaces on 2, 3 and 4 July.

BB issued the directives on demand of the trade-bodies to facilitate businesses necessary banking transactions ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr and during the Eid holiday.

The central bank also suggested the banks that they should keep their respective branches open with ensuring adequate security.

The banks also asked to provide their staff necessary allowances for doing duties during the holidays.
