Dhaka: The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on Tuesday called for waging a social movement by engaging people from all classes to resist all sorts of militant and terrorist activities in the country.

Condemning the recent terror attacks at Gulshan and Sholakia, the country’s apex trade body hoped that the key culprits behind the deadly attacks will be traced and brought to justice, said a statement signed by FBCCI president Abdul Matlub Ahmad.

The FBCCI promised to cooperate with the Prime Minister in implementing her any strong step in curbing terrorist and militant activities as the business community is always ready to resist the terrorist activities.

It also urged the private sector to concentrate more on preventing the recurrence of such unwarranted and brutal incidents in the country.

The FBCCI said the business community believes that the stringent steps taken by the government to contain the terrorism and militancy are working properly.

All the steps to be taken by the government against any terrorist activity will have the support of all the business bodies, including the FBCCI, it added.

The FBCCI is giving special importance towards maintaining the current pace of the country’s development programmes so that local and foreign investors do not lose their confidence in investing in Bangladesh.

The trade body expressed deep shock at the casualties in the attacks on Gulshan’s Holey Artisan restaurant and Sholakia, and prayed for salvation of the departed souls.
