29 JP candidates to contest polls under Grand Alliance; 143 independently

Dhaka: Jatiya Party, led by HM Ershad, will contest the upcoming national election in 29 constituencies as a partner of the grand alliance while independently in 143.

A Jatiya Party delegation, led by its presidium member SM Foysal Chisti, submitted the list of its candidates to the Election Commission on Sunday afternoon, reports the UNB.

All the 172 JP candidates will contest the election with their party's election symbol 'Plough' in the election.

The 29 JP candidates who will run under the Awami League-led Grand Alliance are HM Ershad in Rangpur-3, Raushon Ershad in Mymensingh-4, GM Quader in Lalmonirhat-3, Moshiur Rahman Ranga in Rangpur-1, Rana Mohammad Sohel in Nilphamari-3, Ahsan Adilur Rahman in Nilphamari-4, AKM Mostafizur Rahman in Kurigram-1, Panir Uddin Ahmed in Kurigram-2, Shamim Haider Patwary in Gaibandha-1, Shariful Islam Jinnah for Bogura-2, Nurul Islam Talukder in Bogura-3, Nurul Islam Omar in Bogura-6, Altaf Ali in Bogura-7, Golam Kibria Tipu in Barishal-3, Nasrin Jahan Ratna in Barishal-6, Rustum Ali Faraji in Patuakhali-3, Shafiullah Al Monir in Tangail-5, Fakhrul Imam in Mymensingh-8, Mujibul Haque Chunnu in Kishoreganj-3, Syed Abu Hossain Babla in Dhaka-4, Kazi Firoze Rashid in Dhaka-6, Liakat Hossain Khoka in Narayanganj-3, Selim Osman in  Narayanganj-5, Pir Fazlur Rahman in Sunamganj-4, Yahya Chowdhury in Sylhet-2, Ziaul Haque Mridha in Brahmanbaria-2, Masud Uddin Chowdhury in Feni-3, M Noman in Lakshmipur-2 and Anisul Islam Mahmud in Chattogram-5.

The 143 constituencies where JP candidates will contest independently include Panchagarh-1 and 2, Thakurgaon-3, Rangpur-2, 4 and 5, Kurigram-3 and 4, Gaibandha-3, 4 and 5, Dinajpur-1, 2, 4, 5 and 6, Nilphamari-1, Lalmonirhat-1, Joypurhat-1 and 2, Bogura-4 and 5, Noagaon-1, 2, 3 and 4, Rajshahi-2, 5 and 6, Natore-1, 2 and 3, Sirajganj-3, Pabna-1 and 5, Meherpur-1 and 2, Kushtia-1 and 4, Chuadanga-1, Jashore-2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, Khulna-1, 4, 5 and 6, Satkhira-1, Magura-1, Narail-1and 2, Bagerhat-3 and 4,  Barguna-2, Patuakhali-3 and 4, Bhola-1 and 3, Barishal-2 and 5, Jhalokathi-1 and 2, Pirojpur-1, Tangail-4 and 7, Mymensingh-5, 6, 7 and 9,  Jamalpur-1, 2, 3 and 4, Sherpur-1 and 3, Netrakona-3, Kishoreganj-6, Manikganj-3, Munshiganj-1 and 3, Dhaka-2, 7, 8, 10, 14, 15, 17, 19 and 20, Gazipur-3 and 5, Narsingdi-1 and 2, Narayanganj-1, Rajbari-1 and 2, Shariatpur-3, Sunamganj-5, Sylhet-1, 3, 4 and 5, Maulvibazar-2, Habiganj-1, 2 and 3, Brahmanbaria-4 and 5, Cumilla-1, 2, 3, 4, 9 and 11, Chandpur-1, 2 and 4, Noakhali-1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, Lakshmipur-1 and 4, Chattogram-2, 4, 8, 12 and 14, Khagrachhari and Rangamati.
