Akshay Kumar reveals being harassed as a child!
Akshay Kumar is a man who has always been up for a cause. One of the primary causes that he strongly feels for is the open conversations between the child and their parents, as they could help prevent any kind of extreme measures that the child might be intending to. We have heard celeb stories where they have been instances of harassment and molestation which have been narrated by the likes of Sonam Kapoor and Kalki Koelchin to name a few. But for the first time ever, we are hearing a male actor opening up about his traumatic incident that he had as a 6-year-old.
While interacting with a leading daily, Akshay, who will be soon seen in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, said “When I was a child, my parents always encouraged me to speak to them frankly about everything. Whether it was discussing a sexual issue or inappropriate behaviour, I was asked to come home and talk frankly. When I was six, I was on my way to a neighbour’s house when the lift man touched my butt. I was really agitated and told my father (Hari Om Bhatia) about it. He filed a police complaint. Investigations revealed that the lift-man was a history-sheeter. The cops took action and the man was arrested.”
Akshay Kumar stands up for the cause from his experience, and thus shares this story to come out in the open. Akshay further adds “I was a shy kid but I was relieved that I could speak about this to my parents. But even today, I find it difficult to say the word ‘bum’.We must encourage women and children to speak up and tell their families if they encounter anything strange so that they can be protected and empowered.”
On the work front, Akki will be seen with Bhumi Pednekar in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and is currently busy shooting for Gold in London.
