Titanic affected my personal life: DiCaprio

Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio says that appearing in Titanic has adversely affected his personal life.
The 41-year-old Oscar nominee has dated a string of supermodels including Bar Refaeli and Gisele Bundchen since starring in James Cameron’s 1997 disaster epic—but feels uneasy about the attention that the role brought on him.
The Titanic star recently told Empire Magazine: ‘It was a surreal point in my life. You become this sort of independent actor and then you are in this one film that for whatever reason connects with people on a worldwide level.’
‘And you are at this really young age and you don’t know how to react to it. My immediate reaction was to stop everything and take a break and let it settle down.’
‘But it has affected my personal life ever since. I don’t think you ever get used to the type of attention certainly the media has on you,’ said DiCaprio.
And while Leo has been Oscar nominated for his turn in The Revenant, he admitted that the filming of Titanic was just as gruelling—even if it didn’t involve eating the raw liver of a bison.
He said: ‘They are pretty neck and neck. I couldn’t choose between them. They are apples and oranges though, one had a lot of stages, and the other was in nature. But the film time was equivalent…Let’s put it this way, they were both difficult for different reasons.
The claim comes ahead of the Academy Awards – with many believing that Leo will break his Oscars duck to win Best Actor at the fourth time of trying, having previously received nominations for his roles in The Wolf Of Wall Street, Blood Diamond, and The Aviator.
