A memorial discussion on actor Razzak was held at Fazlul Haq Auditorium of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on Tuesday.

Bangladesh Film Directors Association arranged the event to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hero, reports the UNB.

Actor Alamgir Hossain said ‘In 1972, I worked in the first film through ‘Amar Jonmobhumi’ (My Motherland). Razzak and Kabaori were in that film. Since then, I have always tried to be like Razzak, I still do today.’

He further said, ‘I used to see the movies of Uttam Kumar, Dilip Kumar in my childhood.  Since then I dreamt to be a hero. But entering in the film industry I realized that I will be the hero like Razzak. He was like my elder brother and friend.’

Terming their pair on and off-screen as successful, actress Kabori Sarwar said, ‘The chemistry was very good between us, we could understand each other very much. That’s why cine-goers liked us on screen. We have always tried to make ourselves good performers.’

Kabori also said, ‘We worked together for a long time. But there was no scandal in our name. Without any scandal, we worked as a successful pair as we had the deepest dedication and love for the work.’

Razzak, the most popular protagonist of Bangladesh’s filmdom, and founding president of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association, was born on January 23 in 1942 at Nagtala in Taliganj of Kolkata and died on Aug 21 last year.

During his adolescence, he participated in theatre productions in Kolkata. While studying at a college in Kolkata, he made his first film appearance in ‘Ratan Lal Bangali’.

Hoping to be a film star, Razzak went to study film in Filmalaya in Mumbai, India in 1961. Returning from Mumbai, he performed in two movies in Kolkata.

Razzak’s major breakthrough came with his performance in the movie of Salahuddin’s ‘Tero Nombor Feku Ostagar Lane’. He acted in other movies like Neel Akasher Nichey, Maynamati, Moner Moto Bou, Swaralipi, Osru Diye Likha, Jibon Theke Neya and Obujh Mon.

Syed Hasan Imam, Kabri, Abdul Latif Bachchu, Azizur Rahman, Chattaku Ahmed, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Badiul Alam Khokan, among others, were present in the discussion.
