Under Construction wins three awards in France

Dhaka: Bangladeshi film Under Construction achieved three awards at International Asian Film Festival in Vesoul, France.
Rubaiyat Hossain, the director of film, received the awards at the concluding day of the Europe’s oldest and most popular festival of Asian independent and auteur movies in France, which began on 4 February.
Under Construction is awarded with International Jury Award, Emile Guimet Jury Award, and Special Jury Award. This year International Jury Chairman was one of the popular directors of Korean New Wave and Internationally recognized director Im Sang-soo, and Nan Triveni Achnas, Mania Akbari, Euthana Mukdasanit.
The film bagged Emile Guimet Jury Award and prize money from Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts in Paris. The museum authorities will screen the film in Paris on this April.
Moreover, the film also won Press Jury special critic award. The Press Jury was composed of artistic director of Critic’s Week at Cannes Film Festival and former editor of Cahiers du Cinéma Charles Tesso, French movie magazine Positif’s Eithne O’Neilm and popular critic Vincent Malausa.
The juries appreciated the movie for its rich presentation and lively picturisation of a woman in a developing city.
Under Construction revolves around the middle-class-Muslim urban Bangladeshi woman’s journey into claiming her subjectivity. The film was released on 22 January in Star Cineplex, Jamuna Blockbuster, and Shyamoli cinemas.
