Man in Anushka-Virat video is a 90’s child star, has worked with Shah Rukh and Madhuri
Arhhan Singh, the man who was scolded by Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli in their viral video, was once a child actor in Bollywood movies.
The celebrity couple pulled him up while driving around Mumbai for throwing garbage out of their car and on the streets.
Arhhan, or Sunny as he was credited in the movies then, has worked with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. He played Shah Rukh’s nephew in 1996’s English Babu Desi Mem and a young Sanjay Kapoor in 1995’s Raja. He also played Shekhar Suman’s son in 1993’s hit show Dekh Bhai Dekh, reports the Hindustan Timesindistan Times.
He was also seen with Shahid Kapoor as a school student in 2010’s Paathshala.
Arhhan was scolded by Virat and Anushka for littering on the streets of Mumbai last week. While an angry Anushka asked him to use dustbins, Virat recorded a video of the entire incident and posted it on Instagram and Twitter. ‘Saw these people throwing garbage on the road & pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right! If you see something wrong happening like this, do the same & spread awareness. @AnushkaSharma,’ he wrote in a tweet.
In the video, Anushka can be heard asking the men in the car, ‘Why are you throwing garbage on the road?’ When the men reply with silence, she continues, ‘Don’t throw garbage on the road. Please be careful.’
Anushka sounds irritated in the video, as she finishes with, ‘Use a dustbin’.
The video soon went viral with some praising the couple for pulling up the man and others criticising Anushka for not being more polite and Virat for not blurring the man’s face before sharing the video.
Arhhan also commented on Virat’s Instagram post, hitting back at Anushka for ‘ranting and yelling like a crazy roadside person’ and Virat’s ‘trashy mind’ for posting the video online. His mother also lashed out at the celebrity couple for causing a threat to his life by sharing the video. She wrote on Instagram, ‘As a mother,I would like to state that you have not only shamed my son @arhhansingh on social media by not blurring his face, but you’ve also exposed him to unwanted hostility.... and danger from fanatics for such a small thing that you claim he has done but have no proof of anyways ? I am concerned about my sons SAFTEY !!!.’
People on social media are divided between praising the couple for their good deed and chiding them for sabotaging the man’s privacy. ‘Why are you recording your wife’s heroics and publishing it in social media??.. is this the first time you saw someone threw a plastic cover from a car?? If your intention was to advice him, first be friendly instead of being bossy.. this kinda attention seeking is so cheap,’ a Twitter user wrote. ‘Absolutely she did the right thing, but what’s the need to show the man’s face, not everyone is used to the attention, and he is the subject for his friends and colleagues to make fun of like ‘ tu to wahi hai jissey anushka ne daata tha’ . There are humble ways to teach,’ wrote another.
In 2017, Anushka Sharma was appointed as the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a countrywide campaign to clean the country.
