Given Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s prominent career, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the makers of the film feel that Dhoni’s life and journey in the world of cricket deserves a sequel.
If reports are to be believed, Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Films is producing the second instalment to the MS Dhoni franchise, which will see Sushant Singh Rajput recapitulate the role of the former Indian cricket team skipper, reports dnaindia.com.
As reported by mid-day.com, with conjecture about the second edition hitting headlines, a source close to the actor revealed that the film will focus on Dhoni’s accomplishments post India’s victory at the 2011 World Cup. The winning of the coveted title was where the first part concluded.
‘There is the (Dhoni-led Chennai) thrilling win against Bangalore at the T20 (this year, that can be depicted in the film). Apart from that, India’s steady run, up to the semi-finals, at the 2015 World Cup will find a place in the narrative,’ said the source, adding that milestones from his personal life, including becoming father to daughter Ziva, is likely to make it to this instalment.
After basking in the glory of the biggest hit of his career so far in ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)’, Sushant Singh Rajput is ready to hit the cricket pitch again.
So will this time Dhoni give Sushant Singh Rajput cricketing lessons again? Like in part one, this edition too will see ‘a fair share of involvement from Dhoni, particularly during the scripting process,’ the source disclosed, as quoted by the website.
Expected to hit the silver screen next year, the film may push the making of Sushant Singh Rajput starrer biopic on Paralympic Games hero Murlikant Petkar at the back burner.
Even though the director for the sequel is yet to be decided upon, the actor is expected to resume his cricket lessons soon.
