Veteran movie actress Rani Sarkar dies at 86

Rani Sarkar, a veteran actor of Bangladeshi cinema, died on early Saturday. She breathed her last at about 4:00am at a private hospital in Dhaka. She was 86-year-old.
Born as Mosammat Amirun Nesa Khanam in Satkhira, Rani Sarkar completed her matriculation at Khulna Coronation Girls’ School.
She debuted in the movie industry with AJ Kardar’s Dur Hai Sukh Ka Gaon in 1958.
Then she acted in the film ‘Chanda’. She has appeared in about 1,000 films and some of her notable movies are ‘Talaash’, ‘Bandhon’, ‘Sangam’, ‘Ish Darti Par’, ‘Paiose’, ‘Kaise Kahu’, ‘Azan’, ‘Kacher Deyal’, ‘Kach Kata Hire’, ‘Behula’, ‘Anowara’, ‘Chhoddobeshi’, ‘Bhawal Sannyasi’ ‘Titas Ekti Nadir Naam’, ‘Chandranath’, ‘Shubhoda’, and ‘Devdas’ among others.
In 2014, she was awarded National Film Awards for Lifetime Achievement Awards for her outstanding contribution in Bengali films.
Her last movie was Third Person Singular Number (2009).
