The actress, who was last seen in ‘Prithvi Vallabh’ opposite Ashish Sharma, will be playing the role of Anarkali in ‘Mughal-E-Azam.’ The pretty actress will be paired opposite Shaheer Sheikh, who will play the role of prince Salim.

A close source associated with the project said, ‘Several actresses were considered for the part, but when we thought of Sonarika, we realised that she fit the bill perfectly. While things have been formalised verbally, she is yet to sign on the dotted line.’

Sonarika is also a known face down south, and has starred in several Telugu films such as ‘Jadoogadu,’ ‘Speedunnodu’ and ‘Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam.’
